Gastronomic in Galesburg

Galesburg is a small city with a big appetite for art, culture, and cuisine. Every stop and every bite was an adventure. Landmark Cafe, El Barril, Koreana, and Cornucopia Deli provided a satisfying international food experience without leaving Galesburg. All of these restaurants are worth visiting and guaranteed to leave your culinary palette wanting more.

Stop 1: The Landmark Cafe & Creperie

I kicked off my food tour at Landmark Cafe and Creperie, located on Historic Seminary St. in downtown Galesburg, IL. The restaurant has the perfect name because it is indeed a wonderful landmark and a must-stop if you are visiting Galesburg. The classic breakfast and French Toast were delectable options and confirmed why the landmark restaurant draws in visitors from all over the country.

Pro tip: In the summer months, sit outside on the greenery-lined patio. During the cooler months, we recommend the spinach bisque, though it’s delicious year-round! 

Stop 2: Koreana

Koreana Restaurant is a locally owned, cozy, and inviting eatery that offers delicious Korean cuisine. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with traditional Korean artwork, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere. Every dish was its own unique experience, leaving my palette wanting more. The Bulgogi fries were loaded with steak, bold Korean spices, kimchi, and more. Koreana is a must visit when visiting Galesburg.

Stop 3: El Barril

El Barril is a vibrant restaurant with authentic Mexican cuisine. My favorite was the chimichangas, served with rice and beans. They offered a variety of cocktails; however, I suggest the margarita. It was tasty and had the right amount of flavor and kick. Overall, El Barril provides a fantastic dining experience for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic Mexican meal in Galesburg.

Pro tip: Chips & salsa are provided upon sitting down, at no extra cost!

Stop 4: Cornucopia Natural Market & Deli 

Cornucopia Natural Market and Deli is an excellent place for health-conscious individuals to enjoy a meal made with high-quality products. The deli serves tasty sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts made with fresh, organic ingredients. The staff is friendly and ready to help make the visit a great experience. It’s a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Pro tip: Try the Indian Buffet, served on Monday’s only!
