Small Town, Big City

Small Town Experience with Big City Atmosphere

You don’t have to go to a big city to get all the good stuff. We’ve been everywhere and were able to find an incredible one-of-a-kind dinner experience at Craft on Seminary Street in Galesburg. We also were able to share our love for coffee with the owner of Orange Cup Side Hustle. It’s the little things that make Galesburg so unique.

Stop 1: Craft on Seminary Street

To preface this description of Craft on Seminary Street and give context, my husband and I have eaten at restaurants all over the world. We are both in agreement that the dinner we had at Craft was on par with some Michelin Guide restaurants, without the Michelin prices. The flavors were phenomenal, and the service and presentation were both remarkable. This restaurant proves that you don’t have to go to a big city to find an incredible food experience. Highly recommend ordering the crab cakes.

Pro Tip: Start out with cocktails at the bar before going to your table.

Stop 2: Holiday Inn Express & Suites, an IHG Hotel

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Galesburg. The hotel is next to the Galesburg Welcome Center – right when you enter the town. The Holiday Inn is also next to HyVee, which is a Midwest grocery store chain and a great stop for provisions. To get to the downtown area of Galesburg, we ordered a cab from Big Daddy Cab Co, which got us to our location safe and sound. The Holiday Inn also hosts a large continental breakfast.

Pro Tip: It’s right across from the Welcome Center – be sure to stop in!

Stop 3: Orange Cup Side Hustle

After a perfect dinner and overnight stay, we stopped at Orange Cup Side Hustle on our way out of town. This is a must-stop when visiting Galesburg. It was a highlight of our trip. The atmosphere is welcoming for coffee enthusiasts and those who would enjoy a fun Taylor Swift-themed menu. Not only was the coffee superb, but the food was also delicious. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner of the coffee shop and share stories of our love for coffee. It was a unique experience that you can only have in the Midwest. The kind of experience we live for it’s what keeps us traveling!

Pro tip: Try an item from the specialty themed menu, which changes monthly!
